The story so far…
Hayley: So… you all know about the Seattle Wrestling Academy. I’ve mentioned it in passing a few times. Let’s talk about a few of the notorious figures I came across during my training there.
There was Darren Holliday, the former owner and head trainer. When he was focused, he was pretty damn good at his job. But I always found him a bit old, fashioned. Maybe it’s because the Indies were as far as he ever got. I personally, never felt close to him.
There was Shawn Riley… his second-in-command. Loved him! Still do! He’s like a second father to me and I was definitely his favorite student, something I took great pride in because he’s essentially the Simon Cowell of the school. Very blunt, very harsh, and unlike Darren Holliday, back in the 80’s, he was a huge star in the British Isles. I learned so much from him and I would never reject his advice.
There was Victoria Salinas. She owns the school now after buying it from a financially strapped Holliday. She also trained here… and is far and away the most successful alumni the school has ever had. Five world championships, two Hall of Fames, an inspiration for sure. She means well… even if sometimes her views can be misguided.
There was Casey Holliday… oh brother… GREAT wrestler, but being daddy’s little girl certainly helps. She’s a former world champion (UCI) and had never been beaten for it before AW retired the title. We trained and came up together, but every time she accomplished something, it was a HUGE celebration. It got old, and she had her phase where she was an outright brat that she was forgiven for. But still, we have a bit of a sisterhood going on even though I think Victoria praises her too much. It’s clear that Vicky has hand-picked Casey has her successor.
And finally… Bianca Vasquez, my other best friend. I love her dearly, cute as a button, would make a great manager or ring announcer but her wrestling abilities were always to be desired. I never had a problem with her and she’d be the glue that would hold our sisterhood together. Casey, Bianca, and I. We were the clique of the Academy. We vowed to always have each other’s backs… then Casey went loopy for a while and things got weird, but hey, that bond is looking REALLY good right now.
So...in recent weeks, I’ve lost the Immortal Iconic Championship and Casey was awarded with a Money in the Bank contract deal in AW, while finishing 2nd in their Havoc Rumble.
Of COURSE Victoria wanted to arrange the celebration back at the school…
May 8, 2019
Hayley Halsey sits in one of the academy’s locker rooms before Casey’s celebration is set to begin. She has a very glum look on her face, almost sad in a sense. Sighing and feeling down, she looks down on the floor and twiddles her thumbs acting like she doesn’t want to be there.
Voice: A penny for your thoughts?
Hayley looks up to see Shawn Riley, the one person in the academy that she always knew wouldn’t let her down. She immediately pops up from her seat and hugs him, which surprises him but he returns the hug. Once the embrace breaks, Hayley sighs and lets it out.
Hayley: We’re celebrating Casey? AGAIN?
Mr. Riley can only scoff and laugh.
Mr. Riley: After she started her mainstream career embarrassing this school while she and her father nearly torpedoed it to bankruptcy with their nonsense… I agree, it doesn’t make sense. Victoria is a great leader and all, but I find her to be far too forgiving of daddy’s little girl. She’s grown up and proven me wrong but… I can’t bring myself to like her.
Hayley: I don’t blame you. Even now, she has her bitch fits and I’m the one calming her down. Where’s my celebration? There wasn’t one for me when I won the PHW World Championship OR the Immortal Iconic title in CW. I didn’t even have a graduation ceremony. But CASEY… I love the girl, but sheesh, I’m tired of Victoria acting like she’s the only one that matters.
Mr. Riley: Do something about it then.
Hayley: How?
Mr. Riley: Hayley… you’re smart enough to figure it out. I believe in you.
Hayley: Everything I’ve done for HER… being part of her skits, promos and everything… now this big speech… I don’t know what to do…
Mr. Riley: I think you DO know what you want to do. You know what your heart wants. I think now’s the time you listen to it. I’ll see you out there for the celebration… annoying as this may be…
Riley turns and leaves the locker room, leaving Hayley to her thoughts.
ONE HOUR LATER (during Casey’s celebration)
Hayley (voice over): Casey Holliday is no doubt a prodigy and I can never take away her abilities as a professional wrestler. She has a world title to her name and I don’t, I can’t deny that. But she’s not GOD… I hate that I even have to sit here and listen to all this because I know I can be be just as good, if not better, especially since we were all in the same training class. Fine… let’s get this over with.
The celebration for Casey’s UCI Championship accomplishments at the Seattle Wrestling Academy is in full swing. The aforementioned faces like Victoria Salinas and Shawn Riley are there, along with Bianca Vasquez and of course, Casey Holliday herself. Hayley is trying to hold things together through Bianca’s in-progress speech.
Bianca: ...and for Casey to come back from the brink, when it seems like the defining moment of her career was going to be some fluke, one hit wonder Trios tournament in her maiden promotion… to be the wrestler that she is today… it is by far the most defining example of what a champion is about. Casey, I know this isn’t necessarily something you set out to do but… you have clearly and unquestionably proven yourself as beyond a worthy successor to Victoria and everything she’s done for this school.
Nobody notices that Hayley just rolled her eyes. Bianca: I’m so glad you overcame the darkness in your heart, matured past your demons and rookie struggles and became one of the best in the world today!
Casey says “thanks” in her direction as Bianca steps away from the microphone with an applause. Victoria steps up to the microphone.
Victoria: Thanks Bianca, great stuff. Hayley, you said you’d like to say a few words right?
Victoria steps aside as Hayley Halsey walks up to the microphone. She smiles for a split second while looking at Casey who is clearly on cloud nine right now as Hayley speaks.
Hayley: Casey… what can I say? It’s always a pleasure to be celebrating daddy’s little girl once again, am I right?
Casey and the audience laughs at this.
Hayley: I mean… I wish my daddy was a wrestler too so I could have my free ticket to fame and fortune.
Casey raises an eyebrow as a more subdued laughter takes place.
Hayley: It’s funny… you know… daddy gives you everything, you break into mainstream off of his injuries… “I need to pay for my daddy’s operation guys”... and you suddenly found your obstacles in SCW and you go from being daddy’s little girl to being a FUCKING CRYBABY LITTLE BITCH!!!!
Casey’s jaw drops in shock as silence suddenly sweeps the building.
Hayley: You’re acting like oh everything SO unfair, not just with SCW, but with UCI and AW too… whining about the UCI title bullshit like you’re a fucking spoiled brat. You know what’s REALLY unfair, you little bitch? How about the fact that while daddy got you a free ticket into worldwide wrestling, I had to bust my ass and suffer the FRUSTRATION of TWO wrestling promotions closing on me and I’ve had to do NOTHING but prove myself in this business while YOU are getting FREE RIDE after FREE RIDE getting a UCI title shot right when you walk in the fucking door in AW! How is that FAIR?
How is it fair for ME to have to put a championship on the line every week where I wrestle and then once I lose it, they change the rules and rid the belt of the “weekly defense” rule, huh? Where’s MY fucking celebration for being a two-time champion within my first 10 matches… something YOU didn’t do… and something that not even VICTORIA pulled off. HUH? Where’s MY fucking recognition? I win a championship and do EVERYTHING the way this fucking school brought me up to do it… and NOBODY GIVES A FUCK…
Victoria attempts to rush the microphone, but Hayley isn’t having it…
Hayley: NO… back off, Vicky…
Victoria: You’re not doing this…
Victoria tries to snatch the microphone away, but Hayley smacking her across the face stymies this.
Hayley: Yes, I AM DOING THIS! I defend my most recent title TWICE and NOBODY bats an eye, but CASEY finishes SECOND… not even FIRST… SECOND… and we’re CELEBRATING? Meanwhile, I lose my title in the most unfair fashion EVER and only ONE person asks me if I’m okay. You know who DIDN’T ask if I was okay?
Hayley points at Casey.
Hayley: THAT CUNT!
Victoria recovers from the slap to suddenly snatch the microphone out of her hands.
Victoria: GET OUT! NOW!
Hayley: Okay… fine…
Hayley begins to walk away but suddenly she runs over and pounces on a stunned Casey. Someone screams “HOLY SHIT” from the audience as a brawl between Casey and Hayley happens. Casey though, is able to hold her own as security comes in to break up the fight.
Hayley: YOU FUCKING CUNT! It’s all about YOU… it’s ALWAYS been all about YOU! I’ve HAD IT WITH YOU! FUCKING SPOILED DADDY’S GIRL LITTLE BITCH!!!
Casey is too stunned to say a word as they get separated.
Mr. Riley (from the audience): THAT’S RIGHT…
He claps.
Mr. Riley: YOU TELL HER HAYLEY!
Victoria turns toward Mr. Riley.
Victoria: You are SO FIRED!
Mr. Riley: Excuse me…
Hayley gets dragged away from the scene practically kicking and screaming as Mr. Riley tries to catch up with her. She’s eventually dragged out of the building and left in the parking lot, though she was thrown down hard against the asphalt.
Hayley: FUCK HER!!!! UGH!!!!
Hayley doesn’t have time to say much as she notices the outstretched hand of Shawn Riley. Taking a deep breath, she grabs it and he helps pull her up.
Hayley: ...thanks for being the ONE person that CARES… I’m so sorry I got you fired though…
Mr. Riley: Don’t worry about it. SOMEONE had to take a stand and I’m glad it was you. When Darren sold the school, I should have been the one running it. But no, he instead hands it off to HIS favorite. I gave 20 years of my life to this bloody hellhole and they never repaid my loyalty. At least I can finally take my good friend’s job offer down in Anaheim… bloody hell, this place is going downhill.
Hayley: So you’re NOT mad at me for costing you your job?
Mr. Riley: HELL no! You actually did me a favor! I was bloody miserable there! Listen, I’ll help you. Anything you need, I’m right here for you, alright?
Hayley nods.
Mr. Riley: Trainer, manager, advice giver… anything you need! You’re too good to be playing second fiddle to daddy’s little girl.
Hayley: You got that right!
Mr. Riley: See you in the morning?
Hayley: Yeah…
Mr. Riley: Good! Keep your head up! It’ll only get better from here.
The two part ways at this point, with Hayley flipping the double bird to the school she once called home before she makes her departure.
