*RING RING*
“Hello?”
“It’s me, Astrid. As if caller ID didn’t let you know that.”
“Yes it did let me know it was you. It’s just… our last few conversations haven’t gone well.”
“Well this one probably won’t either.”
“OK… What is the topic of discussion?”
“Jazmin.”
“I tried talking to her Josh… but she’s stubborn. I am sorry but I never told her to do any of this… only to treat you the same as she always has. Honest...”
“You need to talk to her talk to her. She has clearly taken your side in all of our mess. You need to be the voice of reason in all of this. This bullshit has gone far beyond the wrestling business. You know it and I know it.”
“I honestly didn’t want her to take sides because she’s your family before she was mine and the only thing I wanted was for her to stay usual with you. I talked to her last night when she wanted to fight her in ou… the house. I tried telling her and Mischa that they’re grown ups and shouldn’t be acting like this, to settle it in the ring. But I will try talking to her again.”
“Wait, what do you mean fight her at the house? Jaz wasn’t there last night.”
“She was geared up and ready to go to Brentwood and kick Catriona’s ass. She tweeted saying Mischa, me and someone else better have bail money ready. Hell… Mischa was going to go with her. I said I’d do anything for her but she really needed to calm down. I couldn’t get through to her and neither could Samantha Tolson-Anderson. She said it was personal. I…”
Down the line, Astrid can be heard sniffling a bit, her words become a bit stifled.
“I didn’t want it to get this far. I’m sorry. I really am. I didn’t want Jazzy to take sides, I didn’t want any… of… this. I totally regret that night. I should’ve just stayed home and waited for you to come back. I’m so… so sorry.”
There is silence before a heavy exhale can be heard.
“Get her under control, Astrid. I love her more than life itself but she’s playing an adult game that she’s definitely not ready to play at.”
“And because I love you more than life itself… I will continue to keep trying. But you know how stubborn she is. Yes, she’s a grown up but this isn’t something she should be dealing with. I don’t want her to get hurt or arrested… that’s the last thing I want.”
“Neither do I, Astrid. Neither do I.”
“I’ll take her to lunch or something and see if a face to face will work. I’ve not been able to get through yet but maybe that’s because it’s been all calls and tweets.”
“Alright, because she’s definitely going to listen to me. Anyway, I’m sorry to interrupt your night. I just needed to impress upon you the severity of the situation especially after what happen tonight.”
“You weren’t interrupting anything to be honest. But it was nice to hear your voice. I fully understand the severity and I will try to get through to her. I’ve been seeing a therapist, the one Tap said I have to see, and he’s been helping me leaps and bounds. Maybe some of his tactics will work on her. Thanks for drafting a new contract. I will abide by the terms of continuing to see the therapist… promise.”
Another pause of silence.
“Right, Astrid. You have a goodnight.”
“You too babe.”
The sound of Astrid inhaling sharply can be heard.
“Sorry… force of habit. But have a good night. I do love you… to the ends of the earth.”
There is no reply but instead an end to the call.
