"Heartfelt Moment"
FLASHBACK
Everything in the room was blurry. Real blurry to the fact that the man known as Equinox waking up to find bruises upon his body.
To which none of it made sense. The last thing he remembered was being in his truck with his son. He was taking Kenneth to surprise him for his birthday. Equinox had decided to start wrestling again and thought he might enjoy his first training session here in St.Louis. Kenneth might get to see his uncle Erik. He was going to let Kenneth sit in on his first training session and see Equinox prepare himself for his return. That’s when it dawned on him. He was in a hospital. Then where was Kenneth? Where was his son? Although he couldn’t really see just yet. He tried to raise himself up, screaming at the top of his lungs in a complete and utter panic.
EQUINOX
“Kenneth?! Where are you, Kenneth?! Where is my son?!”
He was in danger of ripping out tubes and an IV. Something that he was now realizing that he was connected to. All of the sudden a gang of nurses and a doctor came rushing into the room that Equinox was in. Those nurses grabbed a hold of Equinox trying to push him back down against the bed to prevent him from hurting himself. Equinox could hear the doctor’s voice as he tried to calm him down.
► DOC HAWKINS◄
“Mr. Kendricks... Mr. Kendricks…keep calm please. I need you to keep calm.”
► EQUINOX◄
“No! Not until I know where my son is! Tell me where he is?!”
DOC HAWKINS
“Calm down. You have to calm down first!”
As much as Equinox didn’t like what he was being told. He was kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place from an internal standpoint. He was a father. He wanted to know where his son was. Especially with the situation that he found himself in, but the only way he was going to find out is if he managed to calm himself down. He forced himself to lie back down against the bed. The nurses quickly working to bring the straps up over the bed in order to keep him locked down and prevent himself from doing any damage to himself whether it be accidental or on purpose.
DOC HAWKINS
“Are you calm?”
Equinox: “Just tell me where my son is.”
DOC HAWKINS
“Listen Mr. Kendricks, I am not sure if you are aware of where you are or what has happened.”
EQUINOX
“I don’t care just tell me where my son is!”
DOC HAWKINS
“You both were in critical condition car collision your son is breathing, stable. But he required surgery. He lost a lot of blood and had some swelling in the brain. He may not remember who you are when he comes too. So I need to rest here and be patient. We will keep you healthy and updated on your son but for now you need rest.”
Equinox nodded as he took a deep breath. A nurse came in and leaned in to whisper to the doctor. The doctor looks at
him directly.
DOC HAWKINS
“I believe your son is awake and he seems to want to see his father.”
The nurses undid the straps and started pulling away cords. Once they were done, Equinox didn’t care. He started running out the door hearing the doctor yell where Kenneth was. Equinox kept on going until he got to his room.
Knocking on the door, he entered and nearly burst into tears. There was his little boy. Bruised from head to toe. He was awake. His left eye was all purple. You could see the hurt in his eyes.
Kenneth
“Daddy?”
Equinox smiled as he came to his child’s bed side. He ran his hand through his son’s hair. He had to fight the tears. He kissed his son’s forehead.
Scene ends.
“Ain't No Rest For The Wicked”
Today was the day that Nox had waited for this entire year. His second chance at the Pride Championship. The sun was starting to set out here in Hollywood, California. There was enough daylight left that when the scene opened up everything was able to be made out. It became clear we found ourselves in the middle of road, no cars in sight and no traffic. Wasn’t long at all before we were able to see the man known as “The High Spot Hero” standing as flashes of the car crash came into his mind. Equinox to take a moment to let it all in because in just a little while the greatest man who ever lived vs. the High Spot Hero would be trending worldwide. His words that came out of his mouth at that very moment were very soft spoken.
Equinox: “Since Wrestling came into my life is will be forever changed. Life is short and death can come quickly as I have experienced before and I know in a way this tournament to crown a new champion after Brady can’t keep to simple Pure Rules is a life and death situation for people’s careers.”
The range of emotion within his voice was heard with every word that he let come out of his mouth.
Equinox: “Back then, me losing would be something I would lose my temper about. It’s not even something that I have completely dealt with. But last show I didn’t walk away the victor over Darth Ganja and since then she’s gone onto become champion. I beat Desmond Masters recently so that was a notch I was able to scratch away or so I thought. Desmond and I square off first round. Then it is either the winners of Haley vs Tolson, Olivia vs Rebel Manson or Brady vs Anders. The point is I have to beat Desmond to make it to the others. I want them to know this isn’t a game anymore to me.”
A little more emotion had started to come out of him as he spoke
“I literally haven’t had a chance at the Pride Championship since Maki held it. Maki, Samantha Hamilton and I squared off in a three way match. It was one of the best matches of CWD. I didn’t win because Kendrick Kross. Maybe it was fate that day because here we are now. A second chance to right a wrong. However to do that I have to beat everyone else. That includes Brady Vega. I will beat them all if I have too.”
Equinox looked down at his right hand as it has a smile tattoo upon it
“I will make this perfectly clear that I can beat Desmond I have before. I have beaten Rebel before. I have even technically beaten Tolson before as much as she’d like to dismiss it. I have beaten Brady before as well. The only person I haven’t is Olivia and Haley. Them I am taking seriously. Those two are my toughest challenges because I still need to figure them out and I will.”
Equinox’s eyes shifted upward. There happened to be so much pain, but so much rage in those eyes at that moment..
“Whoever stands in the ring across from me? Just know that your defeat is destiny. The cold hard truth it all is no one deserves this more than me. No one appreciates this company more than me. I might be silent type upon the keyboard warriors of twitter. But when it comes to CWD it is my home and I want to have it succeed.”
Shaking his head about from side to side on the matter. None of this really made sense to him. One would have to imagine that there was something mentally wrong with him.
“No matter what they throw at me I will not stop till I gain what’s mine. Honestly it seems impossible to win but that’s the thrill of this tournament. I have so much to gain and nothing to lose.”
Equinox had made a career out of being in the most extreme situations. On that note Equinox raised his eyes up to the sun. Keeping his eyes forward when he spoke.
“It’s going to be a painful night for whoever gets in my way. I plan on dragging the night as long as I can and making the pain last as long as I can. Word of advice you should have prepared yourself for the pain that I intend on bringing to you. I intend on breaking you down bit by bit and piece by piece. I plan on learning what you can do in the ring personally so I can use that to my advantage for the future. You won’t stop me.”
From the words that had come out of his mouth at that moment. It seemed like Equinox had it all planned out. Then again he had the last couple of weeks to think about what he wanted to do and who he was..
“There’s no rest for me on this night. I will walk out finally Pride Champion. Welcome to Wayward Dreams.”
Equinox’s final message was loud and it was clear that light Equinox turned himself back around as he looked towards the sun that was setting. In that moment he knew everyone else had their fate already sealed. He was going to become Pride Champion or die trying. Because it’s about time Equinox goes out there and steals the show.
