As the scene opens, we’re in a room with Kendrick Kross and Britney Anders sitting directly across from Ethan Roerich and Jack Callahan. The two of them have their contracts in front of them and begin to slowly read over them. Kendrick looks up from his and immediately seems displeased by something in it and the same look is given by Britney.
KENDRICK KROSS: I think you’re missing something.
JACK CALLAHAN: Mr. Kross, I don’t believe we are. We have both gone over your contracts very carefully and believe that this is a very fair offer for you both.
Kendrick leans back in his chair and lets out a small chuckle towards the both of them behind the desk.
KENDRICK KROSS: We both requested very specific things. The money itself is good, however, the incentives we requested? They aren’t in there.
Kendrick stares down them both as he looks over at his girlfriend, who seems more displeased than Kendrick is.
BRITNEY ANDERS: Paid travel, promotional events, excetera, like okay? That I can live with, but what about my outfits? You expect me to pay for my own outfits when I travel to red carpet events on behalf of California Wrestling? What about my nails and jewelry? I can’t show up somewhere where they are snapping pictures left and right and have ugly nails or my own jewelry. Every look has to be unique for every appearance.
Britney sits her pen down, opting not to sign the contract as she attempts to stand up from her chair to walk away until Kendrick gently puts his hand on her wrist. The couple’s eyes meet each other as Britney remains seated at Kendrick’s request.
KENDRICK KROSS: I have to agree with Britney on all of those points, she needs new outfits, but if I am going to be at her side then I need different outfits, shoes, and watches for different events. I won’t be seen in recycled clothes at events. It’s just not my style.
Kendrick sits his pen down on top of the contract looking at both men, shocked at the look of surprise on their faces.
KENDRICK KROSS: Why the surprised look gentlemen? You know what we discussed and you know all of the reimbursements and everything that you told us we would receive, they aren’t here in the contract. I won’t touch that pen again until you can add that part of the contract in.
JACK CALLAHAN: Well I think I speak for the both of us when I say that us saying that was in good faith and didn’t require anything written inside the contract itself. You two have been here the longest and we wouldn’t short you that.
A grin comes across Kendricks face as he shakes his head a bit. Knowing that anything Jack said couldn’t exactly be taken at face value.
BRITNEY ANDERS: But you had no problem throwing me under the bus when you signed Sam Tolson, right? You broke my prior agreement of being the highest paid in the company, for multiple reasons.
JACK CALLAHAN: Ms.Anders, I have already covered this. You were the highest paid up UNTIL that point, there was never a stipulation in the contract saying that you always had to remain the highest paid performer. Those sorts of stipulations are tricky because let’s say a top free agent ever hits the market, someone who has been wrestling for over ten years. It hurts our negotiations if they come in, knowing that you will always make even a penny more than them. So here’s how this goes.
Jack clears his throat as Britney grills him, keeping her beautiful eyes on him intently as her hands are crossed on the table.
JACK CALLAHAN: If we add a stipulation like that to your contract, we must also agree to a confidentiality clause, meaning that you can’t flaunt your financial earnings, per base contract, to the other talent. We appreciate what you have contributed to the company and the growth of CW through our multiple transitions, but pay as a bargaining or power play is frowned upon.
BRITNEY ANDERS: But it’s understood that regardless on who you bring in, my pay will always be adjusted to where I’m making at least a penny more than them. Right?
Impatiently, she pounds the table with her soft hands.
BRITNEY ANDERS: RIIIIGHT?!
Jack clears his throat again and looks over at Kendrick, almost hinting at him with his gaze to ask his girlfriend to calm down.
KENDRICK KROSS: Don’t look at me Jack, you know she’s right. She has contributed more to this company than money could even buy. Without her and myself where would this company be? We both brought in free agents whether you’d like to admit it or not. Melody Marshall, one of your golden girls it seemed, she left once, came back, and left again. She was never committed to the growth of this company like Britney has been and like I have been.
Jack looks at Britney then back to Kendrick and then glances over towards Mr. Roerich, who despite everything has been said is still speechless, seemingly letting Jack do all of the negotiating with the two.
KENDRICK KROSS: We need confirmation from you, Jack. Britney will ALWAYS be the highest paid, and I will at least be the second highest. That has to be agreed upon as well, so that means she has to at least make two pennies more than any free agent you could bring in or any renegotiating you may do. I have to be making at least a penny more than them as well, it’s the only way we can stay here. You know what we mean to this company and if we walk out you’re not only losing the two top champions, but you’re losing the heart and soul of this place.
Jack looks at Kendrick in a daze, as if he had seen a ghost. Mainly because the negotiating side of Kendrick had never come out like it has during this meeting. It’s what is needed though in order to make sure they get what they deserve.
JACK CALLAHAN: If it will get you two to stop yelling then fine. We will even amend the contracts, both of them, to make sure that every incentive and everything that has been said in this room is on record.
KENDRICK KROSS: Good.
Britney leans in to Kendrick and takes his arm in hers, awaiting the re-drawn up contracts to be hand delivered after Jack had sent out a text to get them amended. A few minutes pass by as Britney and Kendrick talk amongst themselves until finally, there’s a knock on the door. Shortly after, a young man walks in with the new contracts and sits them down in front of Kendrick and Britney respectively as both stars begin to look over their contracts as Jack and Ethan watch them study their contracts.
BRITNEY ANDERS: Mine looks good. All of the proper amendments appear to be included. How about yours, babe?
Britney leans over to look at Kendrick’s contract as she finally has the pen back in her right hand.
Kendrick carefully looks over the contract to make sure nothing was missed or re-worded to include loopholes. After carefully reading over it he flips to the back page and lets out a small grin.
KENDRICK KROSS: Mine looks just as good babe. Everything appears to be worded correctly and is now in the contract.
Kendrick proceeds to sign the contract and places the pen on top of it after the signing. Britney follow suit, doing the same before standing up and flipping her hair in arrogant fashion, no longer even looking at the two businessmen across the table from them. Britney heads for the door as she has a grip on Kendrick’s hand, to guide him out as well.
KENDRICK KROSS: Pleasure doing business with you men.
